Re: PHP meets SQL Server
As a side note, I've been using the combo PHP + SQL Server for quite some time with really good results in several applications. The only real complain about it is support for pagination a la MySQL or Postgres (read "limit" clause).
There are some things you must note about SQLServer+PHP, specially in scripting scenarios like the one in the article.
If you are working with long texts, you must configure the mssql.textsize parameter in php.ini so it doesn't trim the text. The default is 4096 k, increase it if you notice that text is being cut.
The other thing is date time format. If you are working with PHP 4 specially, set mssql.datetimeconvert = Off in php.ini and do yourself a favor and work with dates in ISO format yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss in order to avoid some nasty issues regarding locales.
Besides this, all in all, I've found that PHP works great with SQL Server.
