ColdFusion-compatible ASP.NET Scripting Engine Released

Posted by: Vince Bonfanti on March 26, 2005 DIGG
New Atlanta has released BlueDragon for the Microsoft .NET Framework, a ColdFusion-compatible scripting engine that allows you to deploy and integrate ColdFusion applications with ASP.NET. Installed as a custom HTTPHandler, this product allows pages created using Macromedia’s Cold Fusion Markup Language (CFML) to be deployed and interact with ASP.NET pages.

BlueDragon.NET is implemented as an ASP.NET HttpHandler using a combination of Visual J# and C#, so it's pure .NET code, and integrates seamlessly with ASP.NET. BlueDragon.NET allows ColdFusion applications to be redeployed to ASP.NET without requiring a ColdFusion server.

Once redeployed to ASP.NET via BlueDragon, CFML (ColdFusion Markup Language) code can be integrated with ASP.NET in the following ways, with full two-way transparent sharing of Request, Session, and Application scope variables:

 - CFML pages can include ASP.NET (.aspx) pages

 - CFML pages can do forwards and redirects to ASP.NET pages

Using the provided BlueDragon.NET server controls, ASP.NET pages can integrate with CFML pages in the following ways, with full two-way transparent sharing of Request, Session, and Application scope variables:

 - ASP.NET pages can include CFML pages

 - ASP.NET pages can run CFML code inline

 - ASP.NET pages can invoke CFML custom tags and CFCs

 - CFML query variables can be bound to ASP.NET controls, such as the DataGrid

Additional information about BlueDragon.NET and the entire BlueDragon product line of ColdFusion-compatible web application servers can be found on New Atlanta's web site:
